2. What Information We Collect : When you create a profile with DesiBandhan, we collect the following categories of personal information:
Basic identifying information: First and last name, email address, date of birth, city and state of residence.
Sensitive personal information: Religious background, regional and linguistic heritage, income range, and immigration background (first-generation vs. second-generation). We collect this information solely for the purpose of finding compatible matches. You are never required to provide sensitive information — all sensitive fields are optional.
Profile content: Profession, education, lifestyle preferences, partner preferences, profile photo, and optional video introduction link.
Cultural preferences: Your responses to our Cultural Compass questions about family involvement, lifestyle, and values.
Communications: Any messages you send us via our contact form or email.
Technical data: IP address, browser type, and pages visited, collected automatically when you use our website. See Section 7 (Cookies) for details.
3. How We Use Your Information : We use the information you provide exclusively for the following purposes:
We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for commercial purposes.
4. Third-Party Tools We Use : To operate DesiBandhan, we use the following third-party services that may process your personal data on our behalf. Each of these providers is bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements:
Tally.so — We use Tally to collect your sign-up and profile information through our online form. Your form responses are encrypted in transit and at rest and stored on Tally's servers in Belgium, Europe. Tally does not sell your data. Privacy policy: tally.so/privacy

By submitting your profile, you acknowledge that your data will be processed by these third-party tools as described above.
5. Sensitive Data : We collect certain categories of information that are classified as sensitive under California law, including religious beliefs, national or ethnic origin, and financial information (income range). We collect this data only with your explicit consent, only for matchmaking purposes, and we never share it with third parties for any commercial purpose.
6. How Long We Keep Your Data : We retain your profile and personal data for as long as your account is active. If your account has been inactive for 12 months, we will email you to confirm whether you wish to remain on our platform. If we do not receive a response within 30 days, we will permanently delete your profile and all associated data from our systems and request deletion from our third-party tools.
You may request deletion of your data at any time — see Section 8 for how to do this.
7. Cookies : Our website uses cookies to analyze traffic and improve your experience. We use the following types of cookies:
Essential cookies: Required for the website to function. Cannot be disabled.
Analytics cookies: Help us understand how visitors use our site (pages visited, time spent). We use GoDaddy's built-in analytics for this purpose.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use DesiBandhan.

9. Data Security : We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. These steps include using encrypted form collection (Tally), and limiting access to your data to only Shruti Kshatriya and Mayuri Shukla as DesiBandhan administrators.
However, no internet transmission is 100% secure. If you have concerns about the security of your data, please contact us at admin@desibandhan.com.
10. Children's Privacy : DesiBandhan is not directed at anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted a profile, please contact us immediately at admin@desibandhan.com and we will delete the information promptly.
11. Changes to This Policy : We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify active members by email if the changes are significant.
12. Use of Information : The details you provide will be collected by DesiBandhan for the purpose of creating your profile and suggesting matches.
13. No Guarantee : DesiBandhan is a matrimonial service. While we strive to connect like-minded individuals, we cannot guarantee introductions or marriage outcomes.
14. Age Requirement : You confirm you are 18 years or older.
15. Responsible Conduct : You agree to use this service respectfully and for marriage-focused purposes only — not casual dating.
